Returns true when boundary encircles a pole, by winding-number test: |Σ shortest-dλ| around the polygon ≈ 360° iff a pole is enclosed. Stable against the floating-point jitter that makes sign-flip / odd-crossing tests flicker near ±180°.

Linearly interpolates the latitude where the segment between p1 and p2 crosses the given meridian.
