from String
Parses a geographic location from text, autodetecting the coordinate format. The dispatcher matches the input against each coord class's STRING_PATTERN in turn — MGRS (e.g. 32TLP5626635418), UTM (e.g. 36 N 329839E 5581722N), Gauss-Krüger (e.g. 53-01351, 66-65624) — and falls back to WGSCoord.fromString for any WGS-84 lat/lon notation (decimal degrees, D M, D M S with optional N/S/E/W markers and the usual decoration characters as separators).
Throws
when the string is empty or cannot be parsed as one of the supported formats. In particular, malformed lat/lon (out-of-range angles, repeated hemisphere markers, unrecognised tokens) is reported instead of being silently mis-converted, which guards against e.g. UTM-shaped input being read as raw degrees.
